Edina residents will head to the polls this November to decide three key positions in city government. Mayor Jim Hland is facing a challenge from Ron Anderson, while three candidates are competing for two open city council seats. The council incumbents Carolyn Jackson and James Pierce are seeking re-election, and they'll face competition from planning commissioner Ryan Day.

Voters have multiple ways to cast their ballots. Early voting opens September 20th and will be available at Edina City Hall and the Hennepin County Government Center. Residents can also vote by mail, though all absentee voters must have a witness present when they submit their ballot.

Whoever wins the election will take office on January 6th, 2026, the first Monday in January following the general election. All elected officials will serve four-year terms. The council used the retreat to outline voting procedures and ensure residents understand their options for participating in the election.
