The city has issued a Request for Proposals to find a developer for a vacant 3-acre property on Eden Avenue in the Grand View District, which formerly housed the city's public works facility before it relocated in 2010. The RFP prioritizes mixed-use development with a preference for owner-occupied housing and "missing middle" housing options at various price points. A city official noted that the RFP was "intentionally written to allow a wide variety of proposals that achieve the best project at the best land price to the city." The council expects to select a developer and consider a binding contract in early summer 2025, with construction potentially beginning in 2026.

The city is also moving ahead with a $27 million Highway 100 interchange project that includes constructing two new bridges on Vernon Avenue, improving intersections, and eliminating redundant access ramps. The project requires tree removal along Highway 100 near City Hall and near Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks by the end of March 2025 to avoid disrupting protected species nesting season. Construction is expected to begin in late April. City officials emphasized their careful approach to tree removal, protecting large oak trees on Graange Road that residents value. "We were very careful about what trees that were selected to be removed," a city official said. "They were protected with our project last year. They'll be protected again with the project this summer."

Meanwhile, Braar Arena's Learn to Skate USA program is expanding under new director Dana Swanson, hired in December 2024. The program ranked third largest in Minnesota and 42nd nationally in 2023-2024 with over 700 enrolled skaters. Swanson, who previously ran a skate school in Eden Prairie, aims to make the program more accessible to the broader community. "I want to bring the program to everyone in the community, not just people who maybe their parents skated," she said. Summer session registration for Edina residents opens April 16, 2025.
