The commission received an informational update on current and upcoming development activities, with no votes taken. The most notable project is the Ferndale Bluffs subdivision on Ferndale Road West near the Orono border, which has been substantially revised after the Planning Commission previously recommended denying it. The new proposal reduces the project to three lots and removes a requested roadway variance that had been a sticking point in earlier reviews. "The roadway variance has been removed and it's now three lots," staff told the commission, noting the developers have withdrawn their previous application and resubmitted with a complete new application.

Two other projects are moving forward. The redevelopment of 200 Lake Street, the site of the former TCF bank building, is expected to come before the commission in March. Staff also provided details on the Kishes project at the former Caribou Coffee site, which would include office space on the upper floors and ground-floor retail or food uses. According to staff, the office tenant has not yet been made public, but the design would span between a new structure and portions of the existing building.
