The Lakeville City Council heard an update on two significant road construction projects during a July 21 meeting. Assistant City Engineer John Nelson reported that both projects are on track, with completion expected in early to mid-September.

Nelson outlined progress on the 202nd Street and Hamburg Avenue intersection improvement project, which will feature a single-lane roundabout designed to enhance safety at that location. "The roundabout is being constructed due to the need for a safety improvement at the intersection and is necessary to help provide safety throughout the community," Nelson said. The project is targeting a mid-September completion date.

The second major project involves construction along 185th Street, which is progressing on schedule. Work on the eastern portion of the project—between IPava Avenue and Exonia Avenue—has already included utility installation, curb and gutter work, and the first layer of asphalt. Construction crews have now begun work on the western section of the project, between Exonia Avenue and County Road 50. "Construction is proceeding on schedule for that project. We are still targeting a substantial completion date at the beginning of September," Nelson reported.

The IPava intersection along 185th Street has already been reopened to traffic as work continues on other segments. No official votes were taken during the meeting, as this was an informational update rather than a decision-making session.
