The council voted unanimously to allow the Wayzata Yacht Club to modify its slip configuration at 1100 Eastman Lane. The project would convert up to 12 buoys to physical slips while maintaining the existing limit of 186 total slips. City staff recommended approval, noting that the modifications would actually reduce the club's footprint on Lake Minnetonka.

Mayor Mullen explained the approval process, which requires the yacht club to notify the city of any material changes to its boat slip count. "The triggering event for this is the correlation between more boat slips equals more parking, more parking equals more impact to the neighborhood," Mullen said. Since the project stays within the 186-slip cap, it doesn't trigger a full public hearing process, though the city can offer comments on neighborhood impacts.

Council members added a safety consideration to their approval. One council member noted that fixed slips are safer than buoys, a comment that will be forwarded to the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District along with the approval.

The council also unanimously approved a consent agenda containing routine administrative matters, including second readings of two zoning ordinances addressing home design, an auditing services contract, and a development agreement assignment. The meeting also featured recognition of Marily Borg Babcock for over a decade of volunteer service on the Parks and Trails Board, and introduction of Tyler Basil, a new Public Works Technician who joined the city in October.
