[0:06] We're here today to look at some of the spaces [0:08] in the Woodbury Community Garden, [0:10] and we're going to talk about how to optimize the space. [0:16] These plots are nine by 13. [0:19] The gardeners want to get as many vegetables as they can. [0:22] So I'm going to show you [0:23] some of the things that were done in this plot [0:26] that optimizes the space. [0:27] What this particular garden has done. [0:29] They've put three walkways. [0:30] The walkways give them access to the garden, [0:33] but it also gives them ample access to the vegetables [0:37] on either side of the garden. [0:38] You want to do as you want to grow up. [0:40] You can't grow out because you'll interfere [0:43] with somebody else's space. [0:44] You'll go into the pathway. [0:46] The optimal thing is to grow up. [0:48] This particular garden, they put cages on the tomato plants, [0:52] and so the tomato plants will grow up, [0:54] but it'll keep the tomatoes from falling on the ground [0:58] where they rot. [0:59] And then they put, some peas here in the front, [1:02] also with a small trellis for them that grow up there.
